Morning Page 5- "Three ways of to Speak English"by Jamila Lyiscott

I have watched Lyiscott's talk on TED about 10 times since I encountered it months ago. I have shared it with my friends and family. Lyiscott's message about articulation is very true. Some people view those who speak broken English or anyway other than theirs, "wrong." I have been told that on some occasions. Ironically, those who think I speak with "no articulation," are those who make the most grammatical and phonetic mistakes when speaking English. However, since it might be their first tongue, they think their way of speaking is right. Articulation is not how you speak but what rules you follow when you speak YOUR language. For the rules, they are unlimited to every type of English whether Spanglish, Jamaican Patois or in any form one might speak it.

While we are on the topic of stereotypes, we all have been one, one way or the other.
